Reaffirming Our Values

Click to read more about our work

Right now it's more important than ever to stand up for our values.

At GVSHP we are reaffirming what we believe in -- a tradition of embracing immigrants and innovators; celebrating dissent, progressive change, and forward thinking; and understanding, respecting, and learning from history.

We embrace these values in everything we do. In our Children's Education program which focuses on the lives and contributions of immigrants. In our oral histories, lectures, historic plaques and online resources which celebrate pioneering artists, civil rights activists, labor leaders and social reformers. And in our groundbreaking advocacy for landmark protections based upon immigrant history, LGBT civil rights, African-American history, countercultural movements, and innovations in affordable housing.

We're not stopping. GVSHP has a long tradition of taking on powerful interests, whether real estate developers or government leaders, to stand up for our neighborhoods and our values.

So we're recommitting ourselves to work towards protecting what we hold dear about our communities and our city -- to continue to make them enriching and uplifting places that are open to and inclusive of everyone.
